We all knew it was bound to happen sooner or later….

It seems our whole lives can be run through our IPhones and now we can even control a car with the IPhone.

Maybe not the whole car but the ignition and many other features of the IChange Concept Car from Rinspeed can be controlled via an IPhone.

This super green electric car sports solar panels on the roof and lithium-ion battery power.  Created to operate as a solo occupant vehicle, the roof raises to reveal a small cramped backseat for two in case you must share all the fun of this car with a significant other.

Will we see this car on the road anytime soon?  Not likely, but it’s nice to dream.

You don’t need a big gas hogging 8 cylinder car to have fun at the track.

What kind of gas mileage does it get?

Although mass production and use of solar cars is still a long way off.  It’s nice to see that Toyota has taken the first steps toward the use of solar energy to replace fuel consumption on it’s eco-friendly Prius.

The solar panel roof option will be available this Spring, and will power a cooling system without power from the engine.  The solar panel will provide energy to a ventilation fan that will help keep the car cool on hot sunny days.

I’m of the philosophy of “every little bit helps”.

Whatever we can do to make even a small step in preserving the environment and lowering our carbon footprint is worth at least a few minutes of our time. Going green is about taking multiple steps in the right direction.

Dang, if only I hadn’t spent my last $750,000, I could buy myself a really cool solar car. Who knew that with a bit of cash I might have been able to drive almost 2000 miles at 75 miles an hour with using any gas. I guess I’ll have to wait until I get another $750,000 to try out this beauty.

A light weight minimalist Earth friendly design for the rugged minded.

Jay Leno, host of the Tonight Show, is a well known Car Junkie with a dream to build the ultimate car of the future. From the looks of the EcoJet, he might just have accomplished that dream.

The car is powered by a biodiesel fueled jet engine and has an aluminum chassis.

Interior seating is a man made environmentally friendly biodegradable suede.

In my last post we looked at the possibility of “flying cars” in the future, but it turns out that at this years AirVenture Oshkosh 2008 a plane that converts to a car was introduce and already taking orders.

The flying car, or driving plane is made by Terrafugia and features wings that fold-up via electric motor and can be driven as a regular car. The cockpit is well laid out and contains controls for flight, as well as, city driving.

This concept of turning an airplane into a car vs turning a car into a flying machine makes much more sense. The idea of having cars flying between buildings seems unrealistic, however a car that turns into a plane and follows all air traffic safety guidelines is totally doable.

Terrafugia has been taking orders and is backlogged until 2011 so if you want one in the next decade you better get your order in quick. But it appears Terrafugia is not the only one working on a car/plane. Check out the video below from this falls New York car show. Millner Motors has their own version of the aircar.

I guess this means I’ll need to get my Pilot son to teach me to fly.

I know pigs can’t really fly, but what about cars?

After viewing a few of these videos, I think cars can and do fly. It’s just a matter of time before they will be buzzing your house.

Since my 16 year old son is busy getting both his pilot’s license and his drivers license, I think we’ll be ready when these flying machines hit the local showrooms.
