Is the Electric Car Dead?

Can it be revived? Should it be revived?

With the high cost to not only the pocketbook in terms of gasoline prices but also to the environment in terms of pollution, the electric car seems to be a viable option. However, after a brief spurt of life in the mid 1990′s the electric car appears to have met an untimely death.

What will it take to bring the electric car to the masses and is there anything we can do to speed the process?
