The biggest problem with plug-in Electric vehicles has been one of range.   As popularity grows for these environmentally friendly cars so will the need for a solution to this problem.

Toyota has announced the sale of individual Electric Car Charging Stations with the hopes that these stations will become available coast to coast.

The Stations will retail around $4,500 and were developed with Nitto Electric Works.  Each station will feed single phase electric power at 200 V and 16 A.

My daughters science fair was coming up and she was wanting to do something different for her project. There was a lot of the same type of projects being done and so we went to the library to try and find something that new and unique. As we were walking in to the public library I noticed that there was a recycling box outside and I had a brain storm. We decided to do a project that shows the difference between electric car batteries and regular car batteries. It was a great project and we had a good time doing it together.

It seems the Mayors of San Francisco,  Oakland and San Jose  set out on a mission back in November of 2008.  Their goal is to become the Electric Car Capital of the United States.

With the addition of Electric Car Charging Stations in front of City Hall, San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom shows his commitment to the goal.  San Francisco already has a municipal fleet of Electric Vehicles.

Mayor Newsom also stated that he was one of the orginial owners of the Electric EV1 more than a decade ago.

There is a war happening right now globally but not for what everyone thinks.

It is to be able to hone the lithium-ion production that is used in electric car batteries. Because electric cars are becoming more popular and the need for the efficient energy will be a financial gold mine for who ever perfects this technology the quickest. The President of the United States has pledged that there will be one million electric cars on the road in the states. Finding a company that can keep up with that amount of production will no doubt find the turning of a profit immediately.

With the new advancements that are being made with cars and the electric car batteries that are being used, there is a new problem that this new frontier must over come. That is the specialized needs of the electric car batteries. These batteries are formed using a special Lithium ion system. This has the greatest capacity for storing energy but it is also a drawn out process for cars that would have larger battery systems. Different ideas have been bounced around such as charging stations on freeways. Will these charging stations replace Gas Stations? Whatever the solution that is, we can know that the freeways and roads will soon be environmentally friendly.
